Overview

Resolution Companion is designed with your privacy as a top priority. We believe your personal growth journey is deeply personal, and we've built our app to keep it that way.

The Short Version

Your personal growth data stays on your device. We don't sell your data, track you across apps, or use third-party analytics or ad trackers. On our own servers we store only the minimum: an anonymous device identifier, your subscription status, and privacy-respecting usage counts (how often features are used, by day — never what you write or do). AI conversations are processed by OpenAI (see details below).

Information We Don't Collect

  • No Account Required: Use the app without creating an account or providing personal information.
  • No Third-Party Analytics or Ad Tracking: We do not use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or cross-app tracking of any kind. The only usage data we keep is our own privacy-respecting, aggregate feature counts, described below.
  • No Data Selling: We never sell or rent your information to third parties.

Information We Do Store

To make premium subscriptions work, we store a small amount of data on our servers:

  • Anonymous Device Identifier: A randomly generated identifier created on your device. It is not your advertising ID and is not linked to your name, email, or identity.
  • Subscription Status: Your subscription plan, status, and renewal date, so your purchase can be verified and restored after a reinstall.
  • Aggregate Usage Counts: To understand which features are useful and where the app can be improved, we keep per-day counts of anonymous events (for example, "a plan was created," "the coach was opened," or the app caught an error), tied only to the same anonymous device identifier above. We never record what you write, your goals, your messages, or any content — only how many times a feature was used on a given day.
  • Aggregate AI Operations: We total AI request and token counts by day, feature, and model so we can monitor cost. These totals contain no device identifier, prompt, response, or other user content.
  • Feedback Submissions: If you contact us through the website feedback form, we store the name, email address, and message you provide so we can respond.
  • AI Safety Reports: If you use the in-app Report action on an AI response, we store that response, an anonymous device identifier, and the app surface where it appeared so we can review safety issues and improve our safeguards.

You can delete the device identifier and subscription records at any time from the app via Profile > Delete My Account & Data, or by contacting us at the email address below.

How Long We Keep It

  • Device Identifier & Subscription Records: Retained while your subscription records are needed to verify or restore purchases. When you use Delete My Account & Data in the app, these records (including monthly AI usage counters and the aggregate usage counts) are permanently deleted from our servers immediately. The app also removes local product data and, on supported Apple devices, its private iCloud backup.
  • Feedback Submissions: Retained only as long as needed to respond to and follow up on your message. You can request deletion of your feedback at any time by emailing us at the address below, and we will remove it promptly.

What Stays on Your Device

All of your personal data is stored locally on your device using secure local storage:

  • Your plan — the identity you're working toward and your goals
  • All milestones and daily actions you create
  • Your daily logs and progress history
  • Momentum chains and alignment metrics
  • App settings and preferences

This data stays on your device unless you explicitly use an AI feature, explicitly report an AI response, turn on Private iCloud Backup on a supported Apple device, or choose to share a recap or witness celebration through the system share sheet.

Private iCloud Backup

If you opt in, the app copies your local product data to your own private Apple iCloud key-value store. Resolution Companion does not receive or read that backup. Subscription information, the anonymous device identifier, and aggregate telemetry are excluded. You can turn backup off, create a new backup, or explicitly confirm a restore from Profile at any time.

Recap and witness sharing is never automatic. The app prepares an image or message locally, and you decide whether to share it, which app receives it, and who receives it. Resolution Companion has no social feed, shared account, or contact list.

AI Features & OpenAI

Our AI coaching and onboarding features are powered by OpenAI's GPT models (currently GPT-5 mini), a third-party AI service. When you use these features, your conversation messages are sent to OpenAI for processing.

What You Should Know About OpenAI

  • Not Used for Training: OpenAI does not use API data to train or improve their models.
  • Temporary Retention: OpenAI retains API data for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then permanently deletes it.
  • No Human Review: Your conversations are not reviewed by humans unless flagged for safety concerns.
  • We Don't Store It: Resolution Companion does not store your AI conversations on our servers.

Because AI conversations are processed on OpenAI's servers in the United States, we recommend not sharing sensitive personal details (such as health, financial, or legal information) in your coaching conversations.

For more details, see OpenAI's API Data Usage Policy.

Subscription & Payments

If you choose a subscription or, where available, a one-time Lifetime Premium purchase:

  • Payments are processed securely by the store where you obtained the app: the Apple App Store or Google Play.
  • We never see, access, or store your payment information.
  • Subscription management and restoration of eligible purchases are handled by Apple or Google, as applicable. Lifetime Premium is currently offered only through the Apple App Store.

Hosting & Infrastructure

Resolution Companion's backend services are hosted on trusted cloud infrastructure that employs industry-standard security measures, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure data centers
  • Access controls limiting who can reach stored data

Children's Privacy

Resolution Companion is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
